What kind of electrical voltage is available in Sangat? And, what kind of electrical adaptors should I bring with me?
Electrical power throughout the Philippines – and indeed on Sangat Island as well – is 220V 50 HZ.
Electrical receptacles in each of our accommodations accept a standard class II ungrounded plug: the kind with two flat parallel prongs. These are the same kind of ungrounded plugs typically in use throughout North and South America, as well as Japan.
If you forget to bring the proper plug adaptors for your various travel appliances, don’t worry: we have them for sale in our gift shop.
What methods of payment do you accept at the resort? Just cash? Or is the resort also set up to take credit cards?
Yes, we accept credit cards including American Express, JCB, VISA and MasterCard at no additional charge. We also accept cash – of course – as long as it’s in any major international currency, as well as Philippine Pesos.
Does Sangat Island Dive Resort accept foreign currencies for accommodations and other resort activities? And if so, what foreign exchange rate do you use?
We except all major currencies. Foreign currency exchange rates are always calculated upon the daily conversion information provided by www.xe.com.
Does Sangat provide food for guests requiring a vegetarian diet?
Yes, we always include a number of vegetable-based options in our buffet meals, as well as salads and plenty of fresh fruit. We are also happy to prepare various vegetarian dishes upon request.
Can we receive a discounted room rate if we bring our own food to eat?
We’re sorry but we do not provide any discounts on our room rates if you choose not to eat in our restaurant. Additionally, we do not allow food to be cooked within – or around – any of our accommodations.
You may, of course, bring any kind of snack food you would like. That being said, make sure these snacks remain in sealed containers and the doors and windows of your accommodation are closed and secure when you’re out of the room. If you don’t, you may find that Sangat’s monkeys, Monitor Lizards and insects will do everything in their power to make sure that you share your goodies with them!
How is security in and around the resort? Is there anything I should be worried about?
Rest assured that Northern Palawan – particularly Busuanga, Coron, Culion and, of course, Sangat Island – are very safe places to visit.
That being said, Sangat Island Dive Resort does employ three full-time security guards (posted on a rotating 24-hour shift) as a deterrent against petty burglary and other unlawful activities as well as to assist guests in the event of medical emergencies and other unforeseen events.
Is Sangat a safe place for small children or infants?
Sangat is a very safe place for children of all ages so long as close and caring adult supervision is available.
If you are interested in partaking of resort activities that would be inappropriate for very young children, we are happy to provide your child with a nanny for 100 Philippine Pesos per hour.
Do you provide beach towels?
All of our accommodations have typically-sized bath towels which you are free to use on the beach if you would like. Additional bath towels can always be requested from house keeping.
Does your resort charge some sort of sales tax on its room accommodations and activities?
Yes, Value Added Tax (VAT) – as mandated by law – is required to be levied upon all goods and services a Philippine business may provide.
While VAT is automatically included in all Sangat Island Dive Resort room rates, VAT is not, however, typically reflected in the posted prices of other resort goods and services including (but not necessarily limited to) dive courses and packages, on-and-off-island tours, bar beverages, activity equipment rentals, etc.
Upon checking out, the prevailing VAT tax rate will be calculated and added to you final invoice for all non-accommodation goods and services you have consumed or used during your stay.
